Requirements for Vehicle Rental
- To hire a vehicle from Car Hire in Clitheroe, you must be at least 21 years old, although some vehicle types may have different age restrictions. A valid full driving licence, appropriate for the vehicle category, must be held for the minimum duration stated in the Rental Agreement. You will also need to present valid identification and proof of your current address, along with payment information and a security deposit. Booking and Payment Process
- Reservations can be made via our website, by phone, or at our Clitheroe office. A deposit may be necessary to confirm your booking. The balance and security deposit are usually payable upon collecting your vehicle. All prices are listed in British Pounds (£) and include VAT when applicable. We accept major credit and debit cards, with secure processing through trusted payment providers.
Vehicle Pick-Up and Drop-Off
- At the time of collection, it is imperative to conduct a thorough inspection of the vehicle and report any pre-existing damage without delay. A vehicle condition report will be filled out and signed for documentation. It is expected that the vehicle be returned in the same condition as it was received, aside from normal wear and tear. Any new damage will be evaluated and charges will apply accordingly. The vehicle must be returned with the same fuel level as at the start of the rental; refueling fees will be incurred for vehicles returned with less fuel. Late returns may result in additional charges, so please contact us as soon as possible if you foresee a delay. You are accountable for any parking tickets, traffic violations, or fees accrued during the rental period, along with an administrative charge.
Insurance and Liability Policy
- All rentals come with basic third-party insurance coverage. For comprehensive details on coverage and excess amounts, please refer to the Rental Agreement. Additional insurance options may also be available to minimize your financial responsibility. It is advisable to review these options thoroughly. You remain liable for any damage or loss up to the excess amount, unless you have opted for additional insurance. Damage resulting from negligence, misuse, or violation of these Terms remains your responsibility, regardless of any insurance coverage.
6. Modifications and Cancellations
Cancellation and amendment policies differ based on the type of booking and the notice period provided. For precise details, please consult your booking confirmation or Rental Agreement. Be aware that late cancellations or no-shows may incur additional charges.
7. Restricted Activities
Prohibited Uses of Rental Vehicle
- The vehicle must not be used for any unlawful activities. Engaging in racing, rallying, off-roading, or similar risky behaviors is prohibited. Transporting hazardous materials is not allowed. Sub-letting the vehicle or permitting unauthorized drivers is forbidden. Driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs is strictly prohibited. The vehicle should only be used for its intended purpose, and passenger or weight limits must not be exceeded. Driving outside the agreed geographical boundaries without prior approval is also not permitted.
Breach of these terms may lead to rental cancellation and extra fees.
Liability Limitations
To the fullest extent allowed by English and Welsh law, Car Hire Clitheroe is not responsible for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, including loss of profits, data, or business resulting from your use of our services. Our total liability for any claim will not exceed the rental amount paid in the last 12 months. This limitation does not apply to liability for death or personal injury due to negligence or fraud.

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes will be resolved exclusively in the courts of England and Wales.
